The recent UI updates to Canvas have made the platform noticeably harder to use. The new design feels visually cluttered, removes or buries functionality that was previously straightforward to access, and introduces changes that don't add value for students who are here to get work done efficiently.
A simple fix: give users the option to revert to the legacy view. Many platforms (Gmail, YouTube, etc.) have done this successfully during transitions. It respects that not everyone adapts to UI overhauls at the same pace, and it lets Northeastern gather real feedback on whether the new design is actually an improvement before forcing it on everyone.
The goal of Canvas should be frictionless access to coursework, but the new updates work against that.
